How to make delicious cinnamon buns

Just a little picture guide on how I make my delicious cinnamon buns, with apple! They are very yummy!

I made 41 buns, but I assure you they didn't last for long ;) (well, it's 38 left. At the moment...)

You can find the recipe in Swedish here and in english here:

Cinnamon Spins with apples
Portions: 36 pc

100 g margarine or butter
5 dl milk
50 g fresh yeast
1 dl sugar
1 tsp cardamom
1 / 2 tsp salt
13-14 dl wheat flour

Filling
150 g margarine or butter
1 dl sugar
1 tbsp cinnamon
2 tsp vanilla sugar
2-3 apples

Garnish

1 egg
Nib or granulated sugar

Do like this

1. Melt the butter in a saucepan, add milk and heat to 37 ° C. Bit down the yeast in a bowl and stir down the butter and milk. Add sugar, cardamom and salt. Work in almost all flour to a smooth dough. Let it ferment covered with baking towel about 30 minutes.
2. Stir the ingredients for the filling except apples. Peel, stone and cut the apples into small cubes.
3. Remove the dough of flour and knead the bench. Divide dough into 2-3 parts. Roll out each piece into a flat about 30x50 cm, wide on the fill. Sprinkle over apple dice in half the dough and fold it double. Cut the strips about 3 cm wide, divide them in half but let them stay together in the upper edge. Twist them together into a "knot".
4. Put the buns on plates. Ferment them covered with a towel, about 25 minutes. Turn on the oven to 250 ° C.
5. Whip up the egg and brush the buns. Sprinkle over the sugar.
6. Bake the buns in the oven 6-8 minutes. Let them cool on the screen, under a towel.

Comida deliciosa!!

35 buns left now... ;)

Why I miss Småland...

I just took a quick look at my pictures from the last three weeks...
Oh man, I really miss the forest, the fresh air, a big garden where you can pick fresh fruits and berries of the trees and bushes and run around barefoot in the grass!

Nicaragua might not be able to offer me the company of my moms dogs, neither will I be able to pick blueberries, raspberries and chanterelle in the forest. But I guess that they have other things to offer, experience and taste. So I'm really looking forward to this trip, although I might miss my home in Småland a little bit....

It's not only in Småland that you can find blueberries and raspberries. My sister Anna and I went out to the forest yesterday and picked some. Then we ate it all with a lot of ice cream! Yummy!

A day with Virginia (25/7)

Virginia picked me up at 11 a clock in a Audi TT =)
Then we hit the road and went to Varberg (as planned...). It was a bit crowded, so it took some time and patience to find a parking spot. But just when we was about to give up, three parking spots became available! Just in time.

Then we started walking around Varbergs fortress and the town center. We ate a good pasta just next to the market space in town. Here are some pictures from the trip:

Later that day we also went to Liseberg to look at Carl-Einar Häckners Varité (he's magician). I remember seeing him on TV when I was younger. Quite funny show, even though it was a bit short....

Visiting some friends and the wolfs at Kolmårdens Djurpark (zoo) (19-24/7)

During last week I've been visiting some good old friends that I haven't seen for a long long time. I spent the first two days (Sunday-Tuesday) at Richards place in Linköping, then two and a half day with Nathalie in Norrköping. I had also pre-booked a adventure at Kolmårdens Djurpark (zoo): Visit and pet the wolfs! (I received this adventure as a gift card last Christmas)

The wolf's greeting ceremony is to jump up and put it's front pawns on your shoulders and then lick you in the corner of the mouth, and then the whole face =) Very nice...

And they can get a bit jealous as well, so you might end up with 3 or 4 wolf's licking your face. Otherwise they just love when you scratch them on their belly!

Here are some pictures from the wolf encounter:

I can assure you that it was an incredible and unforgettable experience! Wow, the wolfs are soooo amazing. I, together with 14 other people and the keeper, went into the enclosure of four 9 year old male wolfs. We all freezed when the wolfs ran towards us. They are quite big you know ;) Then the wolf at the top of the hierarchy started snarling at the other wolfs (not us), just to maintain the hierarchy/order in the group and let the others know what they are allowed to do and not. Some of you maybe recognise this behaviour from a group of tame dogs. The keeper told us that a tame, unknown wolf is more reliable than a unknown dogs, because the wolfs body language is easier to read and they'll rather back away that bite. So we felt pretty safe.

If you're thinking about what to buy for a birthday/Christmas present or just wanna do something different and exiting, I encourage you to do something like this! It's a great and unforgettable experience!

And here are pictures of the other animals that you can see in the park, incl me and Nathalie:

Now I'm back in Göteborg where I'll prepare myself for the 2+2 week long education at SIDA's headquarters in Härnösand (starting on the 10th of Aug). I have a lot of things to do during this 2 weeks:

-Complete my vaccination
-Buy some things for the trip (sleeping bag, medical kit etc)
-Clean out my apartment
-Spend time with my friends
-Throw a "birthday-/far well party" on the 1st of August

Over and out for today

Metallica - Sonisphere Festival in Hultsfred

Yesterday the Sonisphere festival was arranged in Hultsfred and I think that it was almost 40 000 people there! That's a lot for a little community as Hultsfred, with only 5300 inhabitants. I was there with some friends to see Metallica (and some of the other band that played). Here's the schedule for the night:

I'm not a big fan of all of the bands, mainly Metallica. But it's always nice to listen to live music, although I have to say that I don't fancy the screaming kind of music that was preformed here... ;)

And off course it had to raaaaaaiiiiin!! But only for a few hours in the afternoon, so it was quite okay. Here are some pics from the evening:

2009-07-18 Metallica concert in Hultsfred

My favorite is off course Metallica's 2 hours long performance. But I was a bit disappointed actually. I was expected more of them. Listening to them live was just like listening to the album from top to bottom. Nothing special really... They should be able to do a better performance live!

Birthday party in Fallhult

On the 17th of July, our old lady Mildred turned 84 years old. We are not related, but she is like my grandmother anyway. My parents both the farm from her, when her husband suddenly past away about 25 years ago. She has always been like one in the family, and always will.

Mille means a lot to me and I love spending time with here. She has a lot of story's and knowledge to tell and makes the tasties pastries in the world!!! Although she is 84 years old, there is nothing stopping here. She's a very spry old person, pretty persistent and above all, loving and caring.

She has a lovely garden which she take good care of, and a big house to maintain. I just helped here out with cleaning the fens and part of the house walls during last week, otherwise she takes care of the house almost all by her self. But off course my family helps her out when needed (and my brother lives on the second floor in her house). Here is a picture of the house and part of the lovely garden:

And my old childhood friend Malou went to visit her parents in Fallhult this day too. She brought her little lovely daughter Winnie along as well. Two very good looking girls!

Celebrity for a day...

I just have to brag a little bit now, because I succeeded in getting my face in the local newspaper here in Småland, yay! I became a celebrity for a whole day! ;)

It's a article about my upcoming trip to Nicaragua. Sorry my non-Swedish speaking fellows, it's all in Sweetish. But the photo is international! =)

Only minor errors in the article: The windpowertech course isn't part of SIDA's education and the organisation in Nicaragua is called Aso Fenix. Otherwise okay!

You can also find a part of the article on the world wide web (wow! this www is really huge... ;): Vimmerby Tidning

Visiting Fallhult, in Småland (situated in the south east)

I'm spening these two weeks (28-29) in a village called Fallhult, where my parents live. As most of you already know, my parents runs a farm and a car repair shop there. I enjoy helping them out while visiting. That's my way of "relaxing" =)

Although all of the animals (sheep's and cattle's) are outdoor, feeding on the grass and there's no harvest at the moment, there's still things to do on a farm. Lucky me! =)

Here's some ot the things I've been doing these days:
-cleaning fences and house walls
-driving the tractor (for various purposes)
-cutting the lawn
-helped my friend paint there house
-assist at a 2 day long dog-shepherd competition
-clean the car repair office
-taking long walks with the dogs =)
-pick blueberry's and chanterelle in the woods
-visit friends and relatives
-etc....

I'll add pictures of that later on...

This is the view from my parents house, in the backyard, on different times of the day and various weather conditions:

And here are some macro pictures of the fauna in my parents garden:

Variety show and miniature golf in Falkenberg 4/7 -09

To celebrate my moms birthday, we (me, my sister Anna, brother Bo and father/husband Per) both tickets for the variety show: "Virus i Bataljonen" in Falkenberg on the 4th of July. So on that date, the whole family gathered in Falkenberg to watch the show. And since it was a very very hot and sunny day, we also took a trip to the beach.

I tested my waterproof camera in the sea, and it worked just fine. But sadly, I'm a very poor photographer, so there are no good underwater pictures to show you. You have to manage with the one bellow:

The variety show was very good. We laughed a lot (as expected, since it's a comedy show ;) ) and enjoyed the weather. About 28 degrees hot! And because of my many sunbathing hours the day before, I had to have a towel on my back to protect my sore skin :/

As you can see, we also played miniture golf! It's kind of a family tradition when the whole family is on vacation. I had to try some different golf-poses as well. Looking good, ey? =)

New compact camera 2/7 -09

My new camera, a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FT1 (shock and waterproof), arrived this week and I've already tried it out! Very pleased =)

Yesterday I was visiting Liseberg (a amusementpark) and took some pics while riding the roller coasters (I'll add the movie clip here as soon as possible):

And today I tried it out by the sea while sunbathing and cooling down in the water. Here is a picture of the sunset at Saltholmen, Göteborg:

Early morning walk (another sidetrack) 1/7 -09

This morning we (me and Isabell) woke up at 05.00, since Isabell had to catch the early train home. After accompanied here to the tram at about 06.30, I took a 2 hour long and very nice walk around in the forest nearby. I really like this area, with all the forest and little ponds. Hope these pictures will, as it did for me, give you some recreational and calming feeling. I wish you all a very nice day!
